Street Festival

On Saturday September 18th there will be a Street Festival in Shawnigan Lake.
The Shawnigan Lake Arts & Multi-Culture (SLAM) Street Fest will have entertainment and activities throughout the afternoon of the 18th (2:00 - 6:00pm). At 5:45pm it will culminate with a mainstage activity (all other activities will shut down at that point).
Our vision for this portion is to have artists of different genres and different cultural backgrounds/specialities come together in one piece. The term artist is used loosely. This is not just for professional artists. Everyone is welcome (all ages).
The committment required is:
3 rehearsals + performance
Tentative rehearsal dates (can be changed based on the needs of the group, but ideally one in July, one in Aug, one in Sept):
Wednesday July 14th (SLCC)
Wednesday August 4th (SLCC)
Wednesday September 15th (Art House, Shawnigan Village)
with the back-up date of Thurs Sept 16 if we're really feeling the need for another rehearsal.
This is not pre-choreographed. Please bring your thoughts, visions, and ideas to the first rehearsal!
It will very much be a product of the people and cultures involved.
You must rsvp prior to the first rehearsal.
I look forward to working with you.

CIS has gathered 30 community leaders—artists, facilitators, non-profit service workers, and government representatives from across the Cowichan Region—who are coordinating multiculturalism projects which will inspire community members to participate in civic actions.
These 30 have committed to learning how to incorporate the Arts and Dialogue to create exciting, fun, contemplative, mind-altering projects in 11 of the communities of the Cowichan Region.
We invite you to:
[ Help them to discover the needs of your community
[ Work with them to make change a reality.
[ Collaborate to create a home that is strong & safe for all.
[ Ask how you can help.
